Moving...

Hey everyone,

I switched over to a new site. I'll be shutting this one down pretty soon.

Busy

It's been a hectic month. I purchased a domain name a while back and I have yet to develop the site. I'll let you know how that's going and give you updates on it. In the meantime, I'm trying to sort some things out in my life at the moment.

Friday Fun

I'm trying to figure out what in the world is going on with the site. It seems like I can't get it to display properly in either IE or FF. I'll get it worked out eventually.

Had trouble today getting a program to work. While it was busy loading (or not loading at all), I decided to make some new artwork in my cube. In honor of this weekend's Sea Fair, I present to you the following:

Yes, the program took a really long time to load...

Late night sketching

Tried a couple sketches before I head to bed. I'm toying around with the idea of making a weekly one-page comic featuring characters inspired by people I know and met. I did a couple study sketches from some pictures I took a couple days ago (that camera still works, yessss...). I don't have much for now. I'm trying to plan what to put on my demo reel. Anyways, I'm open for suggestions, enjoy!

I know you don't like people posting pictures of yourself on the internet, Alex.
But it's a drawing, so it doesn't count.

Will, why did you have to give me that "I-don't-want-to-smile-all-the-way-but-I'll-make-a-
face-that-kinda-does" smile? That was hard to draw! Just for that I gave you doe eyes... on PURPOSE!

Alex's reincarnation as a cartoon (upper right and lower left). Still needs some
work though. I would've gotten to Will's, but I'm getting sleepy.

I would show the initial sketch that I pulled this from, but I don't want to
get slapped for the notes I wrote on it. Like thin eyebrows, straight nose,
longer chin... um... OK, I better stop.

I dropped my camera

Had the camera in my front shirt pocket. I opened the car door yesterday, bent down to check the seats, and my $285 hit the pavement. Thankfully the thing still works, just some minor scratches. I learned my lesson: never ever, EVER put anything valuable in a shirt pocket unless it has a zipper, button, velcro, or duct taped.

I'm trying to design a logo for this blog, but not sure if I should look into any copyright because... you know... someone's going to steal it... because... it... will... be... awesome...?

...awwww... who am I kidding!

Anyways, I'm still trying to figure out how to get this blog working, but I'm getting there.

Don't have any sketches today, but I'll have more tomorrow. Here's some filler:

My first life drawing

I've never done this before, but I always hear about how beneficial it is to one's understanding of a character's weight and proportions. I purchased the Virtual Pose 3 book from Powell's over the weekend since my schedule's too tight to fit a class. If anyone knows a thing or two about drawing in general, I'm open for suggestions.

I feel cool...

Me with the other baldies

... cuz I got no hair! Definitely feels nice now that it's warming up again.

It's weird what was underneath all that hair and the gel. I got this nice liver spot near the top and a bunch of moles on the side that probably make a constellation. I've done this before back in January (that was a bad idea) but not this short. Suddenly, everywhere I go, my head's a petting zoo for children of all ages. At least it saves me a couple minute
s in the shower.

Finally switched to digital after clutching to my film for so long. Just a point-and-shoot, nothing
too fancy. By the way, the results of the Mona Lee poll are in, and the verdict is...

At least there weren't chads involved with this one...

... a tie???

Hmm... so it remains a mystery...

When I moved back to my home office, I discovered that my cube has a lot of clean white plastic surfaces. It's like having a mural for a wall! Every now and then, I do a little sketch to maintain my sanity throughout the day. Anyways, I'll end with today's sketch. Fire in the hole!

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... THE ULTRAMEGAKABLOOEY 2000!!!

In nervous anticipation...make Rocky proud!

Lighting the fuse... hey, what's that in the distance?

And it burns, burns, burns...
